CT - Step 1.7: delightful encounters, meaningful connections and unforgettable friendships

One of the best things or maybe THE best thing about traveling is meeting new people. And with that making beautiful connections and friends.

In my first weeks I met two people and later more friends which in the end really sweetened my stay in capetown. (and made me extend 3 times actually)

I met a german girl who was already in capetown last winter. Before the surf camp we met twice and it was really nice. When I came back from the camp we spend time together more often and I am really grateful for this encounter because she is a kind, honest and beautiful soul. We could talk about everything and it felt like a friendship so fast. This is the kind of encounter that makes travel so special.

I also met a french guy before my surf camp as well. (the sunrise hike in the fog) We had already talked about accommodation in capetown and he offered me to move into a free room, which he has in the house with his dad. Since we didn't really knew each other I had to think about it and after the surf camp we went to the gym together and had breakfast in Kauai like the first time we met. Later that day I accepted the offer and moved in with him. lol.

The house was huge and with a nice pool. In the end we talked a lot, chilled, made trips to Boulders beach, Cape of good hope and Chapmans Peak, went to the gym and more. It was really a new experience and also a bit abstract to suddenly live with a french guy and his dad and another colleague. But I had no expectations of the situation, which turned out to be a good one and also one to learn about yourself.

After that I met the german tattoo girl in the hostel and we became friends in 1 minute and had a tattoo together after one day, also my friend from germany visited me. So we turned out to be a group of 4 german girls. It was really nice as I just brought together the new friends I made with one I know longer and we all matched. Which means; we are actually very different one from the other but the dynamic we had in that group was just flowing.

So we went for countless coffees and delicious meals in conscious kitchen (even to the point the other girls wanted to go somewhere else bc I was a bit obsessed with that place), we went to watch sunsets together, for drinks and even a super fancy houseparty. Being in a place I have never been before since 3 weeks and already having these routines with this special girls, really leaves me with a heart full of joy. It is hard to put in words (again), but it feels like there is a special kind of connection. It is not necessary to do small talk or to be pretentive. We just meet and 10mins later we would talk about our traumas, life experiences, desires and love. We laughed so much in ubers and had the best time of our life between some rocks at the beach. It felt like a little summer romance but even more precious because these friendships are unconditional and last even if you wouldn`t see each other for a long time.

The day that we needed to say goodbye, because it was the time to leave capetown and fo to Jeffreys Bay, we were really sad to do so but also grateful for the blessing of our encounter and with that the precious memories we created together. For sure the universe will guide us to meet again, antoher time, another place but the same ineffable vibes.
